In my previous post I was pretty reserved talking about if this is a good time to buy a home in Boise. I will say this though. If you are planning on moving up in Boise or the Boise area from a less expensive, smaller home to a more expensive higher priced home, then the answer is emphatically YES. And the reason is simple. Two years ago we were buying homes for less than $100,000. Similar homes today are selling for $130,00 or more. Lower priced homes have definitely significantly increased in market value. On the other hand, homes that were worth around $1,000,000 six years ago were selling, some for less than half of their original price. There has been very little if any increase in sales price of most $400,000 and up homes in the last three years. Some have even dropped. So if you are planning on selling your starter home and moving up, this is a great time.
